A few days ago I walked up the closed snow filled road up to the Peyto Lake viewpoint. There was some fresh snow over night that gave a nice white blanket over the trees and the edge of the lake.

lol nope, you arent seeing things, it is commonly refered to as wolf head lake, because of its shape.
