Scarface by Dani-Lefrancois Scarface by Dani-Lefrancois
Grizzly Bear

This is my first grizz of the spring! They are out of their dens and looking for food. Its a big issue here in the mountains with grain left from the train on the tracks. This has caused MANY MANY bear deaths, and will cause more this year.

I spent 45 minutes with this big fella just watching him eat the grain on the tracks. Out of those 45 minutes he probably looked up for a total of 3-5 minutes! haha

Lovely looking bear it must be amazing to watch them up close. It's a shame though that the rails through the park cause so many deaths to the wildlife that inhabit them.

Bears always have such great personalities when they aren't snuck up on. This one is so cute!

I particularly appreciate hearing about this. I did not know about grain falling from passing railroad cars causing issues with the death of the wildlife that feed on it. Never thought of that. It's too bad.

the train is one of the biggest bringer of death in these national parks. Doesnt just kill bears either, elk, deer, cougars, wolves... its easy food for the bears and the bears will stand their ground for their food or will run down the tracks instead of off the tracks when it comes. its a HUGE issue here.. :(

You're very brave. I wouldn't want to be that close to any bear, especially a grizzly :P

Safe is a realative term. I've seen video of them tearing up cars like they were a tin can.
