A stunning and bright milky way towers over Mt. Assiniboine and its surrounding peaks. The sky was so bright with stars. It was simply magical to stand alone in the dark looking up at them.

I chose this one over "Space Clouds" because this one has the lake. Both pics are stunning : )

What a beautiful scene but a shame with the startrails. When I do astro I always use the 500-rule - 500 divided by your focal length (remember crop factor if not full-frame) gives you the maximum shuttertime before startrails begin. Since I began using this rule of thumb, I have never struggled with startrails.

No worries. I can't wait to try my hand at a Milky Way shot when I get to the Mt. Cook area in New Zealand.

I leave October 20 and don't get back until December 30. There are some high expectations after how well this one turned out. meema.deviantart.com/art/Jewel…

Very cool Dani. A little too long on the exposure, but it sure brought out that milky way. Little bit of northern lights here? or just atmospheric glow?

It's facing south so atmospheric glow. No lights that night. It was a bit long of an exposure but I feel it doesn't take away from the image. I have a star trail from this location I have yet to put together
