Athabasca Glacier
Columbia Icefields, Jasper National Park

The sky literally exploded with light that morning! The forever snow seemed to catch fire with glow. Amazing morning!

Wow, I love the contrast of the whole landscape, and there's something very enriching about the field and the rocks....The quality is great as well, and I love seeing the difference between the dark  part of the mountains and snow opposing to the bright orange glow of the part of the mountain that is under the illumination of the sunset.

The vertical image had a much stronger foreground as the log was more prominent, here I keep looking at the upper half. The colors are the show here so I would suggest cropping the bottom half just above the rocks. Easy for me to nit pick since I haven't seen these pink puffy things in over a month...

lol I dont want this to be a pano. Although the light is awesome, i feel it needs context for the glacier. The light is very side weighted, so even tho the foreground isnt "strong" it still balances out the top heavy image. and since the moraine is sloped it would have trees on one half with the larger mountain with more light and just rocks on the side with smaller mountain and less light. This is 17mm and i couldnt fit everything i wanted in. This place is HUGE! There was more glow going on above me but i couldnt pano up to get it.. im going back soon to try a new location. There is a big bear in the area that LOVES those pink flowers so i was limited with my wondering cuz i was alone. Next time im bringing my friend as bear bait.. lol

Ah I see, I guess it's all personal preference. You know you could have shot a pano of the sky, mountains, and foreground and merged them together. It would be a tedious process and a VERY large file, but it can be done. Sorta like a gigascape. Good luck on the next shoot, really making me want to visit Canada.

I wasnt going to attempt a pano because the wind was blowing soooooooo strong and the clouds wouldnt have matched. lol Canada is pretty awesome peter!! :P
